The Varlion Maxima Summum Prisma is the successor to the immensely popular Maxima Summum Prisma, now with a new and exclusive look to match its features. This rack encompasses an absolutely incredible feeling! There is plenty of power and the Maxima shape is probably the shape that gives the absolute best all-round properties.
Thanks to its round bridge shape between round and drop, with medium balance, the Maxima has a large and generous sweetspot and to make this even more generous, Varlion uses its Gradual Holes technology, which means that the holes on the hitting surface are drilled in different sizes. Maxima is a model born in 2020 from the fusion between LW (round shape created in 1995) and Avant (tear shape created in 2009). As a result, we achieved a rounded drop-shaped racket, designed for players who seek control in their game without losing power.
The PRISMA frame provides better aerodynamics and cuts through the air to give you a faster swing with 10% less drag, while the outermost edge of the frame is reduced by 90% and is only a few millimeters wide so you have the smallest possible contact area that can go in the glass when you dig deep for the balls. All this means better maneuverability of the racket and greater acceleration capacity on hits.
On the other hand, we have reinforced its most fragile point (the head) with an adhesive bumper that adapts perfectly to its shape, Prisma bumper. This covers not only the frame but also its connection to the plane of the racket.
Bourne Summum Prisma also has the unique Summum shape, which means that the handle is 2 cm longer than usual and that the hitting surface is 1 cm longer than usual. This means that you can more easily hit a two-handed backhand and get a greater leverage effect in the shots and can generate more power.
To make this even more generous, Varlion uses its Gradual Holes technology, which means that the holes on the hitting surface are drilled in different sizes. The holes are made larger the closer they get to the frame to compensate for the stiffness from the frame and create a more homogeneous feel across the entire hitting surface.
CORE & SURFACE
The core is Varlion’s Winter core and is a softer core that provides a good bounce and is adapted for games below 25 degrees. On the surface, Varlion, in an exclusive collaboration with Italy’s largest manufacturer of carbon fiber, has used a 12K carbon fiber that is used, among other things, by well-known brands such as Ferrari. The carbon fiber gives a very good exit on the ball without being too stiff and is late in the actual color seen in the picture instead of being painted. This gives a better feel from the carbon fiber. The direction of the carbon fiber is also twisted 45 degrees to create a 3D effect which means that more carbon fibers are used with each stroke and you can use the racket’s material to the max.
When it comes to applying impact to hits, it features a coarse in-plane texture called Slice, which has been designed and developed with a series of curved lines that make the ball stick more. As these contours are molded into the surface, the structure will never disappear.
Unique to Varlion rackets is also the way the safety strap is attached to the handle itself instead of the knob. This means that the safety belt is more or less impossible to tear off.
This model is 100% handmade in Spain and Varlion’s own factories. If you are instead looking for a racket with more power, we recommend you check out the Bourne Summum Prisma. If you would instead like to have even more control, we recommend the LW Summum Prisma. The racket protector is shipped seperate from the racket. Super easy to attach at home.
